A visit to the MAK Center might well be a highlight of a trip to Los Angeles for devotees of mid-century Modernist architecture and landscape design. The Center maintains the Schindler House in West Hollywood, a fine example of the work created by Austria-born, American architect R.M. Schindler. Schindler studied with Otto Wagner and Adolf Loos in Europe, traveling afterwards to Chicago to work with Frank Lloyd Wright. Wright, in turn, gave Schindler a West Coast project – to work on Aline Barnsdall’s Hollyhock House. Soon after, Schindler began his own architectural firm.

I’ve been in love with the Schindler House for years… Thanks for posting these images which show a new side to an iconic building.
Very interesting. I like the courtyard with the Penesetum …though it looks like Moudry, the very prolific reseeder. Lots of movement with the grasses.
my spelling is off today— pennisetum.
Absolutely love that first photo looking out through the trailing stems!
